Question: How many curling sheets will there be when we move to Capri?
Answer: There will be five curling sheets
Q: What about leagues that have six full sheets worth of members currently?
A: Running two draws on a league night is an option for leagues with enough members
Q: Will we have DESIGNATED curling ice?
A: Yes! The curling sheets will be designated for the entire curling season.
The city has expressed they will transition the ice to hockey/skating ice in the curling OFF season
Q: Who will be making and maintaining the curling ice?
A: The quality of the ice is our number one priority. We are working on having a consultant come out and work with us and the city to make sure we have the high standard of ice our curlers expect and deserve. The city has talked about training current city ice makers to maintain the curling ice and that the current Roseland ice maker would be part of the process. (everyone should rest assured that this is our main priority and that we will make sure is done properly)
Q: Will there be a lounge area for curlers?
A: Yes! We will have a lounge area. The lounge area will not be closed off to “non-curlers” but we do not anticipate that being an issue and would love to talk to new people about our great sport!
Q: Will there be bar service in the lounge?
A: We are working with the city to make this happen. Alcohol will not be allowed on the ice, as is common in most Curling Rinks across the region.
Q: Will anything change with the leagues?
A: The leagues will run as they currently do.
Q: What is going to happen to all of the curling memorabilia currently at Roseland?
A: We will be bringing league memorabilia to Capri with us.
Q: What is coming from Roseland to Capri?
A: Currently, some Roseland items will be repurposed for Capri - i.e.: scoreboards, lockers, etc.
Q: Will the boards and glass remain up?
A: The glass WILL be taken down around the boards and netting will be rolled up.
At this time it is not possible to remove the boards without a great deal of extra cost. This is something we can work towards in the future.
